John Hunter is a compulsive entrepreneur and the author of thirty-six technical publications and two screenplays.
He was born in England in 1945. After Technical High School, he spent nine years in the military travelling the globe; some of which was on active service in Northern Ireland and in the deserts of Saudi Arabia.
This was followed by two years as a sales director for a 'Wooden Boat' building company. Working in wood, inspired him to start his first business designing and manufacturing educational toys and equipment for handicapped children.
"After this business was taken over, he became involved in marketing for an international publishing group producing DIY car repair manuals.
This experience enhanced his love of books and he went on to Managing Direct, a small publishing company marketing specialist books for the construction industry.
This further honed his publishing experience to the point that he founded his own business; the first electronic publishing company in the UK, where he authored numerous market leading technical titles.
The business expanded into world leading construction estimating software where they became market leaders and in 1991, he was awarded the British Design Award for his estimating software.
After thirteen years, the business had survived a major recession and grown into a successful group at which point he decided to sell it, to have more time for personal development."
"He quickly realised that retirement was not for him and as a private pilot started another business chartering high performance aircraft to other pilots.
His lifelong passion for the environment guided him into a further business, 'alternative fuels'. He designed a system for converting petrol powerboat engines to run on LPG.
This was demonstrated on national television when he established the first British Offshore Powerboat Speed Record for a 'Green Powered' boat, at nearly 100mph.
Finally, after four years running a Film Production company as managing director and producer, he decided to leave mainstream business to concentrate on writing."
